INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS
Party HeadQuarters

For the first time in the History of Congress, the party is clinging on 'Development' flank.  Coveted for corruption, this election is surely an uphill battle. However, Congress is so far well ahead and poised to win.

ABOUT

Congress is the oldest of Political parties in Andhra Pradesh and has ruled the state almost unanimously until 1983, when NTR with his Telugu Desam Party defeated Congress. In 2004 Elections, after 9 years of TDP rule, Congress won with a thumping majority ( though vote margin is barely 1%) and vows to comeback in 2009.

The party has setup a website exclusively for the Elections, calld Vote Congress ( http://www.votecong.com ).

YSR goes hightech and started his own blog too. Read it here. The title imitates one of the best run political campaigns, the Obama campaign.

The Score Card
If number of seats won is any measure of its acceptance by the People, this is how the party performed so far.

Election Year Won Contested
2004 185 234
1999 91 293
1994 26 294
1989 181 287
1985 50 290
1983 60 294
1978 30 257

If you are 'detail oriented', here is a district wise analysis of Party performance in previous elections.
